Can a Chow Chow Beat a Pitbull?

Pets are popular among most families. Many of them get cats, snakes, birds, and rodents, but dogs are the most prevalent. Because of their dedication and love for their owners and members of their human family, these animals are known as man’s best friends.

There are many different dog breeds, each with its own set of traits in terms of physical appearance, talents, personality, and temperament. This species of animal is adored by many people because of the physical and mental benefits it provides. The Chow Chow is a well-known animal with both positive and bad characteristics.

The first thing we have to know is that the Chow Chow is one of the oldest dog breeds. Its origin dates back more than 2,000 years in northern China. These canines were used as temple guards during the Han dynasty.

Chow Chows are canines mostly recognized for two characteristics: their physical appearance and their temperament. To begin with, it’s a cute puppy. It looks like a teddy bear since its fur is soft. A fat face, prominent ears, facial wrinkles, and reddish or black hair characterize this animal.

On the other side, while the Chow Chow appears to be a gentle, eager, and loving dog to everyone, it can become distant and even hostile, especially when dealing with strangers and other animals. They are also clever, gregarious, and friendly dogs who enjoy spending time with their family.

Due to the territorial nature and aggressive behavior that this breed of dog can present, many owners wonder if this animal can beat a Pitbull. Many people with Chow Chows live in areas where other families own Pitbull canines, and as we know, both breeds can be aggressive and fight each other.

Can a Chow Chow Beat a Pitbull?

Many people think that Pitbull dogs are dangerous, unstable, and aggressive. Although that may be true, their personality and level of friendliness will depend on several factors, including the lifestyle they receive. Despite that, we have to emphasize that these animals have a powerful jaw that makes them bite very hard.

It stands to reason that it would be difficult for another dog to beat a Pitbull because of its reputation. Although the Chow Chow is an affectionate-looking dog, it is one of the few canines that can take on a Pitbull.

The first thing we have to know is that Chow Chows’ bite force is 220 pounds while that of a Pitbull is 235 pounds. As we can see, there is not much difference between the bite forces of both canines, so we can assume that a confrontation between both breeds would be even.

Each dog has its own advantages. For example, a Pitbull is characterized by its endurance but a Chow Chow by its mane. In this case, we can say that a Chow Chow has a better chance of beating a Pitbull because they both have similar strength, but the Chow Chow has an abundant mane that will protect it from Pitbull bites.

When a Pitbull tries to bite a Chow Chow, it is possible that it chokes on its fur and ends up releasing it. At that point, the Chow Chow will have the upper hand to win the match.

Despite the advantage that the Chow Chow has due to its mane, we can say that the combat between breeds is quite even, and everything will depend on the strength and intelligence of each specific canine.

Conclusion

A Chow Chow is a friendly and loyal dog towards its owners and members of its human family but can still present an aggressive and distant personality towards other animals and strangers. This canine is strong enough to beat a Pitbull, especially since it has a mane that will protect it.
